Founded in 1876, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy trains and prepares commissioned officers to lead and command America's oldest maritime law enforcement force.
Located on a 110-acre campus in historic New London, Connecticut, the Coast Guard Academy is situated high up on the west bank of the Thames River. Providing aspiring Coast Guard officers with an intense training regimen focused on military and maritime science, physical conditioning, and character development, it executes its mission to prepare highly skilled and decisive leaders. Every year, the Coast Guard Academy commissions approximately 175 Ensigns to serve aboard cutters all across the United States, helping to strengthen America's port security, coastal defense, and national security network.
