Genuine Leather (as indicated by the GL at the end of the item #) is usually the stronger leather and originates from the top of the animal hide where the fibers are tighter. It is durable, supple, and more water repellant. Often it is buffed or sanded to reduce natural blemishes. Genuine leather has a slight shine to its appearance. Florentine Napa leather (as indicated by an FN at the end of the item #) is a softer leather since it has been exposed to more buffing which gives it a soft, natural feel. The fibers are looser than in the genuine leather and the process it undergoes to get its softness may make it weaker. It can be polished easily to maintain its softness. Florentine Napa has a richer appearance and makes a great addition to any boardroom. In choosing whether to purchase a GL or FN type of leather in this line, individual preferences, the use of the item, and budget usually dictate the choice. Genuine Leather is a superior leather but is more affordable than the richer Florentine Napa leather.
