Florentine Napa leather (as indicated by an FN at the end of the item #) is a softer leather since it has been exposed to more buffing which gives it a soft, natural feel. The fibers are looser than in the genuine leather and the process it undergoes to get its softness may make it weaker. It can be polished easily to maintain its softness.

All leather goes through a dye process to mask its faults and add color so leather can fade when exposed to sunlight. The less dye added to a leather piece, the less fading will occur. In choosing whether to purchase a GL or FN type of leather in this line, individual preferences, the use of the item, and budget usually dictate the choice.
